How can I get C5 class for my C2 class drone?

To obtain a Class C5 label for a Class C2 drone such as the DJI Mavic 3 series, the drone must be converted from C2 to C5, rather than equipped with an external accessory kit.

For the Kronos M4D system, this conversion does not require an internal Flight Termination System (FTS). Instead, the cable connecting the PRS module is equipped with a dedicated connector that interfaces directly with the drone’s battery connector. This cable acts as a Flight Termination System, enabling motor power cutoff by interrupting the power supply when the system is activated.

Once equipped with the PRS + FTS function integrated via the Kronos M4D cable, a DJI Matrice 4D becomes a Kronos AD Matrice 4D, fully compliant with Class C5 requirements.

To achieve C5 conformity, Dronavia conducted a complete assessment of all Class C5 requirements for the integrated drone + PRS + FTS function configuration. Unlike an accessory kit, where only the kit itself is assessed, this approach ensures full compliance of the entire system.

More details

Autonomous Deployment. Instant Protection.

Kronos Parachute Recovery Systems integrate an autonomous deployment technology designed to minimize activation time and maximize safety in the event of a critical in-flight situation. The parachute is automatically deployed in less than 0.27 seconds, compared with approximately 3 seconds for manual activation.

This ultra-fast response helps reduce impact energy, protect the drone and people on the ground, and allows operators to remain fully focused on their flight missions, knowing that a reliable safety system is continuously monitoring the drone.

Clip, Lock & Fly

Dronavia’s POD system, integrated into Kronos Parachute Recovery Systems, has been field-proven for over three years. After a parachute deployment, the rearming process is fast and simple. For Kronos M4D systems, the operator only needs to disconnect the POD from its USB-C connector and connect a new one, with no unscrewing required.

This quick and intuitive rearming process allows the system to be ready again in just a few minutes, minimizing downtime and enabling operators to resume their missions quickly and safely.

Fully Compatible with Dock 3 Operations

The Kronos M4D Parachute Recovery System is designed to be fully compatible with Dock 3 operations, enabling seamless integration into automated and remote drone missions. Its architecture supports continuous operation, autonomous deployment, and reliable motor power cutoff, ensuring safety without compromising dock-based workflows.

This compatibility allows operators to deploy Dock 3-enabled missions with confidence, combining automation with proven safety performance.

Engineered to Minimize Impact

With the Kronos M4D Parachute Recovery System (PRS), a drone falling from a height of 27.9 meters impacts the ground with less than 22.1 joules of energy. Without any safety device, the same fall would result in an impact energy of approximately 599 joules.

This significant reduction demonstrates the effectiveness of the Kronos M4D in limiting ground impact energy and enhancing safety for people and property on the ground.

Plug In. Power On.

Dronavia Parachute Recovery Systems (PRS) and Flight Termination Systems (FTS) are designed for plug-and-play installation, allowing operators to integrate advanced safety systems quickly and easily, without modifying the drone.

Powered directly by the drone, the PRS and FTS operate with unlimited autonomy, eliminating the need for additional batteries or charging constraints. This seamless integration ensures continuous protection throughout the mission, while keeping installation, operation, and maintenance simple and reliable.

Klick: Instant Safety Control

The Klick remote trigger gives operators immediate and secure control over parachute deployment. Using an encrypted long-range wireless link based on LoRa technology, Klick enables reliable manual activation of the Parachute Recovery System (PRS) at any time during the flight.

Designed for critical situations, Klick offers a fast and controlled response, with continuous link monitoring and operator alerts in case of communication disturbance. Its ergonomic and lightweight design, combined with LED status indicators, ensures intuitive use and full situational awareness.

Built to Perform in All Conditions

Like the DJI Matrice 4D, Kronos safety accessories are fully waterproof and IP54-rated, ensuring reliable performance in demanding environmental conditions.

Parachute Recovery Systems (PRS)

with spring-loaded ejection

MVC3 / MVC4 / M4 / M4D

How does the Kronos Parachute Recovery System (PRS) deploy?

Kronos MVC3, MVC4, M4, and M4D Parachute Recovery Systems (PRS) use a powerful pre-stressed spring deployment mechanism to eject the parachute canopy rapidly and reliably.

This deployment system has undergone extensive testing and continuous refinement, resulting in an exceptional level of reliability and consistent performance. The spring-based mechanism ensures fast, repeatable deployment, contributing to effective impact energy reduction during emergency situations.

How to rearm Kronos MVC3 Dronavia Parachute Recovery Systems (PRS)?

Rearming the Kronos Parachute Recovery System (PRS) takes just a few minutes. Simply replace the old POD with a new one, then carry out a few simple maintenance operations yourself.

These operations are explained in detail in the PRS user manual and in tutorial videos available on our YouTube channel. You can either buy a new POD, or exchange your used POD for a new one at a preferential price.

How do I carry out maintenance on Kronos Parachute Recovery Systems (PRS)?

There are two types of maintenance: preventive and post-deployment. In both cases, the only operation required on Kronos Parachute Recovery Systems (PRS) is replacement of the POD. This is a quick and easy operation, which means that the drone operator never has to immobilize his drone.

A use-by date is indicated on each POD. Dronavia declines all responsibility and voids the warranty on your system if your POD has exceeded this use-by date.

How do I exchange my POD?

Whether your POD has been used after a deployment or has reached its annual maintenance deadline, you can exchange it for a new POD at a preferential price. Simply purchase a POD exchange and send us your POD. Once we receive it, we will ship your replacement POD.

For this POD model, only the parachute canopy must be returned. Please keep the parachute module and send only the used canopy.

Exception: for the Kronos M4D system, the entire POD must be returned, including both the parachute canopy and the carbon fiber tube.

How do I install a Kronos Parachute Recovery System (PRS)?

Kronos MVC3, MVC4, M4 and M4D Parachute Recovery Systems (PRS) are designed for quick and straightforward installation, allowing them to be installed or removed in less than one minute.

Installation consists of attaching the dedicated mounting bracket to the drone, clipping the parachute module onto the bracket, routing the suspension lines around the airframe, and powering on the PRS.

Dronavia provides a comprehensive user manual and step-by-step tutorial videos to guide operators through the installation process, ensuring a simple, safe, and reliable setup without the need for specialized tools.

Can I travel by plane with a Dronavia Kronos Parachute Recovery System (PRS)?

There are no constraints for drone operators traveling by air. Most airlines offer the option of putting the Kronos Parachute Recovery System (PRS) in the hold or in the cabin.
